Orval Abbey It's mainly the ruins of the ancient abbey that are visited. The contemporary abbey is adjacent and is not open to the public so as not to disturb the monastic life of the monks.

The visitor can however accede to the 18th c. vaults where a permanent exhibition of archaeological discoveries is held.

The visit includes an audio-visual production about monastic life (200 slides - 20 minutes), visit of the medieval ruins, 18th c. vaults, a pharmaceutical museum and a medicinal herb garden.

The monastic life continues in Orval. on the other side of the ruins. Photographs of the interior of the actual monastery help make the link between the medieval and modern Abbey.

A shop provides the possibility to purchase beer and cheese made in the monastery. Books, post cards, souvenirs of Orval and a limited choice of religious artefacts are also on sale. Guided visits for groups are available in English, throughout the year, on request (15 days in advance).
